My passion lies in all aspects of residential planning and articulation in the Classical tradition, with special emphasis on the American renaissance, the period from 1880 to 1930. The firm specializes in the planning, design and landscaping of custom residential projects. Projects include additions, restorations and the adaptive reuse of existing space as well as new construction.

My design approach brings careful attention to historical precedents or classical detail essential to graceful, well proportioned homes, whether in the eloquent symmetry of the Georgian facade, the Grand style of a Palladian Manner or the simplicity and restraint of a European farmhouse.

Many of these designs feature handcrafted limestone and custom ironwork. I also enjoy using older, traditional materials such as slate, authentic barrel Spanish tile roofs, antique heart-of-pine floors and unique architectural antique doors, floor tiles, and hand carved stone reliefs.

Part of my expertise includes old world techniques of watercolor rendering similar to those taught at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, pencil rendering, both in perspective and evaluation, and quick sketch marker techniques, which enhance the communication process. I also have a strong background in the classical orders, proportion systems both exterior and interior and site/garden axial planning use by traditional architects of the past.

Along with my study tours abroad, I have compiled a detailed and meticulous resource library with European references as well as great American regional architects' monographs & their works. Included are Charles Platt, John Russell Pope, David Adler, Delano & Aldrich and beyond that, I have continued to study independently.

The Golden Age of California

Being from Los Angeles, I naturally took interest in our Spanish Colonial heritage and in the Spanish Colonial Revival Movement between 1910s through 1930s.

Once again I have collected Monograph's and references of Southern California's group of gifted architects - George Washington Smith, Wallace Neff, Paul R. Williams, Reginald D. Johnson and others, which have been a great resource and help on the consultant projects I have worked on. The two general types/vernacular most associated with this movement are the European farmhouse and the Spanish Colonial Revival.
